Opening Night at Billy Bob's

Be part of the “Billy Bob’s” legacy! Our opening night tradition is the must-attend social event of the conference – and this year is certainly no exception!
The Legend of Billy Bob’s: Billy Bob’s was the name of a now-defunct western dive bar (or dance club, depending who you ask) located in Red Deer, Alberta. In years when the Alberta Mortgage Conference was held at Red Deer’s only available conference centre, Billy Bob’s became the place to be after a long day of professional development and networking. Known for its’ sticky floors, western-themed charm, great music and jam-packed dance floor, Billy Bob’s became an accidental tradition of the Alberta Mortgage Conference.
Although Billy Bob’s was renamed Longriders in 2019, our membership (and many locals) stubbornly refused to call it anything but Billy Bob’s. Sadly, after 40 memorable years, Billy Bob’s/Longriders was demolished for good in 2023. When the AMBA team heard the news, the decision was made to honour the legacy of “Billy Bob’s” by making it an opening night tradition.
There are only 200 tickets available for the opening night party, and tickets are only available for conference pass holders.
Proceeds of Opening Night at “Billy Bob’s” will be donated to a soon-to-be-announced charitable organization.
AMBACelebrates! Gala Awards
Date: Tuesday June 18, 2024
Time of Event: Day 2 – 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Location: Saskatchewan/Manitoba Rooms – Westin Hotel Edmonton.
Join your colleagues to celebrate the achievements and success of outstanding Mortgage Brokers across the province through AMBACelebrates – our annual Gala Awards.
Once a year, we call upon AMBA members to nominate their peers who exemplify AMBA’s values and demonstrate excellence. The Gala Awards include 16 awards divided into 7 different categories.
12 of the awards are judged by a panel of industry peers; 2 are selected based on voting; and 2 Lifetime Achievement Awards are awarded in years where a qualified nominee is submitted for consideration.
Gala tickets are available to conference attendees and industry members, so dress in your gala best and join us for the most glamorous night in the Alberta mortgage industry!
